Using illustrations, diagrams, and images of flora and fauna as the initial input and inspiration, we can create botanical designs with varying complexity and detail. The resulting tiles showcase the natural stone patterns in a nature inspired form.
The botanical tiles celebrate the beauty and heritage of the natural world as well as MMR’s commitment to blending natural systems and contemporary technologies.

The Mutant Stone project uses generative AI to guide and transform imagery into fabrication ready ceramic tile designs.
Mutant Stone bridges the digital and physical realms, working across different graphical information and scales. The project explores tile's material and graphical possibilities, experimenting with figure drawing, botanical scenes, cityscapes, and more abstracted mutant stone motifs. Focusing on technology paired with materiality and craft, it offers a fresh look at the process of design.
